LONG BEACH, Calif. — The sound of cheering crowds set the scene as thousands of runners took off for the 2025 2XU Long Beach Marathon early Sunday morning.
The annual race returned to the city’s waterfront on Oct. 5, bringing together more than 25,000 runners and spectators for a weekend celebrating endurance and community.
Racers lined up near Shoreline Drive as the sun rose, waiting to start. After taking off, the flat, scenic course took runners through the I-710, pass the Lighthouse all the down to Belmont Shore, each mile testing both body and mind.
Temperatures stayed around 80 degrees by midday, making it easier for runners chasing personal records. With the support and energy of the crowd along the route competitors had more than enough encouragement to push their limits.
As the race came to an end, people filled up near the finish line at Shoreline Village. Whether it was a first marathon or a fifteenth, every finisher shared the same reward, the view of the ocean and the satisfaction of pushing past limits.
