As a result of the Turkey Earthquake, multiple buildings were destroyed, prompting some people to assume that the natural disaster was rendered worse by the presence of man-built structures.

After the collapse of the systems, the government jailed architects. Nearly 200 different people have already been taken into custody.

On February 6, a powerful earthquake of a magnitude of 7.8 struck the region, causing widespread devastation and deaths.

According to the administration, 626 individuals were “suspects” after buildings entirely collapsed or were seriously damaged due to the earthquakes. The earthquake took some suspects’ lives while officials still looked for others to come forward.

The Adiyaman engineers and architects union released a report on Wednesday calling on the government to conduct geological and geotechnical research in the earthquake-hit areas before rebuilding the city and to do so by regulations.

On Saturday, Turkey’s Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag revealed that evidence had been collected at thousands of places around the country.

Those from the country working on building the collapsed structures are being held in custody by the authorities.

In Adiyaman, more than 10,000 buildings were amnestied, particularly in the Imamaga and Yesilyurt neighborhoods devastated by the quake.

The union of architects and engineers in Adiyaman, southern Turkey, had criticized the government and local officials for ignoring their warnings about building flaws before the big earthquake that struck on February 6, stating they had frequently urged that standards be amended.

“Despite the fact that we had given studies concerning potential implications and consequences,” Ufuk Bayir, general secretary of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) in Adiyaman, told Middle East Eye.

In June 2022, the Chamber of Geology Engineers issued a study projecting where the earthquake may strike and what should be done. They submitted it to 18 municipalities, including Kahramanmaras, but received no answer.

The building constructions included many people, and the authorities are now searching for those individuals to roast. The authorities have obtained the information.

It has been reported that more than 10,000 buildings in Turkey have collapsed, which raises questions about the structural integrity of structures in some of the areas that have been hit.

According to the Associated Press, Bozdag said that the discovery of evidence inside the buildings continues to serve as the basis for criminal investigation.

Several earthquakes have hit Turkey, but the most recent and severe tremors happened just a few months ago.
